Arthritis Pain Treatment

Arthritis pain is a common disease we treat at Quantum using low level laser therapy.  Arthritis is primarily an inflammatory condition, meaning that it can respond well to low level laser therapy (cold laser) due to its anti-inflammatory effect. Its effectiveness for pain management has been noted by Arthritis Australia, who recognises that there is scientific proof that cold laser therapy can help reduce pain and swelling, particularly in the hands of people with rheumatoid arthritis.

Arthritis is a major cause of disability and chronic pain in Australia and can refer to more than 100 conditions but the most common include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and ankylosing spondylitis. Standard arthritis treatment may include drugs and even surgery, however, the benefits of low level laser therapy is that it is non-invasive and has no side-effects. Whilst arthritis is not yet curable, laser therapy can reduce arthritis pain as well as desensitise the nerve irritability and patient’s dependence on medication.
